Meet Gus

A physician who spent his career studying the brain — and the rest of his life understanding the mind.

Gus Castellanos, M.D. is a board-certified neurologist and sleep medicine specialist, certified to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) through the University of Massachusetts Medical School Center for Mindfulness — the program founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn. He has taught mindfulness in hospitals, universities, prisons, recovery communities, schools, and to first responders for more than fifteen years.

LivingMind is the platform he built to make that teaching accessible — practical mindfulness, grounded in medicine and decades of practice, for real life.

About the teacher

Decades of practice. Real training. Real teaching.

Gus has taught beginners taking their very first conscious breath, and seasoned practitioners deepening into longer sits and inquiry. His work is grounded in mindfulness-based training, medicine, sleep science, and the practical daily awareness that helps people develop a more skillful relationship with stress, emotions, pain, work, relationships, and life transitions.

Mindfulness practice & teaching

Trained in established mindfulness traditions with years of personal practice.

Sleep science expertise

Helps members untangle evening rumination and build sustainable sleep rituals.

Medical & well-being background

Brings a grounded, evidence-informed perspective to every pathway.

1:1 coaching experience

Works directly with members to apply mindfulness to the specifics of their lives.

The premise

Not another meditation app.

LivingMind is built for people who want more than a library of random meditations. It helps each person discover where to begin, follow a guided pathway, build a daily practice, reflect through journaling, and connect with live teachers and coaches when support matters most.

What it isn't

Library only

A pile of meditations and no map.

What it isn't

Generic app

Streaks and badges instead of skill.

The daily experience

One practical step. Every day.

Each day, members are guided to one practical step: a short practice, a reflection prompt, a live class, a journal entry, or a next recommended pathway. The platform is designed to keep people engaged without overwhelming them.

A short practice

5–15 minutes, matched to your day.

A reflection prompt

Notice what's actually here.

A live invitation

Join a class when you need humans.

A gentle next step

Always one step, never twenty.

Live human support

Automation handles the structure. Humans hold the practice.

Reminders, recommendations, and journaling prompts run quietly in the background. Live teachers and trained coaches provide the human connection — especially early in the member journey.

Live teachers

Weekly orientation, beginner classes, monthly masterclasses with Gus, and advanced practice groups.

Trained coaches

1:1 mindfulness coaching, small group circles, and follow-through between sessions.
